Art & Fashion In Motion 2018: Ethereal Glamour Aboard The Eastern & Oriental Express
Art And Fashion Meet Travel
For those who believe that the journey there is more than half the fun of travelling, perhaps a trip aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express would be the ideal choice for your next gallivant.
Melding the romance of old world glamour with modern artwork and designs, Belmond has recently collaborated with local Thai artists to launch Art & Fashion in Motion 2018. In celebration of their 25th year anniversary, the nostalgic carriages of the iconic Eastern & Oriental Express have been adorned with the artwork of Thai artist Somnuek (Parn) Klangnok. Parn’s whimsical artwork depicts an ethereal world of Princes and Princesses surrounded by blooming flowers to reflect the magic and wonderment of travelling aboard one of the most luxurious trains in the world.
Adding to the charm is the new collection of uniforms featuring French tailoring, designed by renowned Thai fashion designer, Vvon Sugunnasil, whose designs have regularly graced the pages of the top glossy magazines. Drawing inspiration from the Golden Age of romantic rail travel during the glitz and glam of the roaring 1920s and 30s, individual uniforms have been exclusively designed for each area of the train; the Bar Manager will be given a new elegant emerald silk attire whilst the Train Manages will wear a bespoke single-breasted charcoal suit. The train’s legendary pianist will also receive a new striking velvet red ensemble featuring classic French tailoring.
With the fresh new look and unique touches, guests can now marvel in the stunning scenery rolling by as much as the glamour and art aboard the iconic rail journey across one of the most memorable routes in Southeast Asia.
Eastern & Oriental Express travels between Singapore and Bangkok on two or three night journeys from January to April, and September to December.
