If you’re looking for an awesome whiskey experience, we apologise, but you missed it. Billionaire Singapore and Auchentoshan recently threw a party celebrating ‘The New Malt Order’ takeover of Alley Bar, featuring cocktail mixing stations, whiskey tastings and an overall great night of shenanigans. And it was amazing, even if we do say so ourselves.

The whole concept for the event stemmed from a single goal: explore the many flavours of the triple-distilled single malt in as many ways as possible. From having it neat and on the rocks to simple whiskey sours and fancy cocktails, Auchentoshan proved itself to be a versatile spirit.

Some of the whiskeys which were available that night included the Auchentoshan American Oak; Auchentoshan 12 Years Old; Auchentoshan Three Wood; and Auchentoshan 18 Years Old.

Three cocktails were also specially concocted for the night. What The Kueh?!, a mixture of coconut water, pandan reduction, gula Jawa, bitters and the Auchentoshan Three Wood, blended traditional whiskey flavours with flavours Singaporeans grew up on. The Ye Old Soda Sour, made with the Auchentoshan 12 Years Old, three types of citrus, and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, was a take on the classic ice cream soda float. The third was the Jammin’ with the Marmy, which featured hints of ginger and cinnamon, orange marmalade, lemon juice and Auchentoshan 12 Years Old.

The various ways the precious liquid was presented brought out the different profiles of the whiskey — hints of citrus, nuts, dry fruit — all characteristic of the whiskey’s maturation in Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximenez casks.

“Appreciation for whisky in Singapore has increased and matured in recent years, and more than ever before, consumers are seeking out new ways to enjoy their dram,” said Sally Lim, marketing manager for Beam Suntory, Southeast Asia. “The New Malt Order dares both the novice and the seasoned whisky drinker to be different, allowing them to create a bespoke drink that they like which still amplifies the key flavours of Auchentoshan and delivers the essence of our whisky to the drinker.”
