How To Spend It: Luxury Yachts

Whether you’re planning to use it for business or pleasure, the right yacht can be the perfect addition to your luxury asset collection.
They say the happiest day of yacht ownership is the day you buy it and the second happiest day is the day you sell it. From Dutch to Italian and Monegasque to Polish, European yacht manufacturers design and build many of the finest vessels money can buy. Their thought process is very much based on offering customers bespoke design options, top performance, and the very best customer service experience. If you’re a first-time buyer or looking to get into something new, we’ve got five yachts you may never want to cast aside.
BENETTI MEDITERRANEO 116’
The Benetti brand is well-known in the industry for building some of the sleekest and best-performing superyachts money can buy. With an exterior designed by Giorgio Maria Cassetta, the Mediterraneo 116’ has curves that play at the heartstrings of the child in all of us. At 116 feet long, this fibreglass and carbon fibre yacht features a master suite, four additional guest cabins, three cabins for the crew, plus a separate cabin for the captain. There’s plenty of room for fun in the sun as well. With 80 square metres of deck space, fighting over a lounge chair on the deck will most certainly not be a problem. Add to that a 15-knot max speed and a range of 3,000 nautical miles between refuelling, cruising grounds near and far are easily viable.
FEADSHIP VERTIGO
As the name implies, this one could make you dizzy. Feadship has launched a megayacht straight out of someone’s dream. And it’s huge! At 96.55 metres in length, the Vertigo comes equipped with some must-have features. These include a swimming pool, beach club, limestone and quartz double-sided fireplace, gym, hair saloon, club lounge, offices, cinema, and (our personal favourite) a pizza oven. When you’re ready to head to shore, there’s space for two custom tenders as well as a hangar for a Bell 429 WLG helicopter with takeoff and landing platform. When it comes time to catch a few zzz’s, there is one very large master suite and six staterooms available. Perfect for long holidays with family and friends, the Vertigo will have you more than taken care of. And to ensure you have the best service possible, there are thirteen crew cabins, four officer’s cabins, one doctor, one pilot, and one captain’s cabins.
DYNAMIQ GTT 115
One of the best and most unique looking yachts on the market today is the 35-metre Dynamiq GTT 115. With motorsport heritage from Studio F.A. Porsche, this truly unique Monaco manufacturer whose yachts are engineered in The Netherlands and built in Italy has collaborated to create a Porsche for the high seas. Fast and enduring, the GTT 115 with naval architecture from Vripack, has the ability to cross the Atlantic Ocean with a range of 3,400 nautical miles. Three decks allow for a configuration of up to five cabins, enabling a total of 10 guests with six crew in three additional cabins. Apart from its stellar good looks, the Dynamiq GTT 115 also has some unique features, including a hot tub and outdoor cinema on the sundeck, as well as Pepita houndstooth pattern cushions on the Minotti outdoor furniture as a tribute to the Porsche 911R.
SUNREEF SUPREME 68 POWER
Hailing all the way from Poland, Sunreef is one of the top manufacturers of power and sailing yachts in the world. The 68-foot Supreme is spacious and stable as is expected from a catamaran, yet it offers the unique ability to feel larger than it is. Unlike many smaller catamarans, this one comes equipped with an aft garage, perfect for water toys, a couple of jet skis, and a 5-metre tender. Three passenger cabins can be found on the lower deck, along with the crews quarters. While, a rather grand master cabin is situated at the bow of the main deck, offering the owners views directly out over the horizon.
SANLORENZO 460EXP
For the adventurer in you, the Sanlorenzo 460EXP can pretty much take you anywhere you’d like to go. A range of 4,000 nautical miles and a max speed of 16 knots means that most places are within easy reach. The 138-foot explorer yacht can hold 12 guests along with up to nine crew for long periods of time. She is also Green Plus certified, meaning emissions are relatively low and considering the yacht’s massive size, with a draft of only 2.5 metres, you won’t need deep ports to take full advantage of the yachting experience. Don’t think of it as roughing it though just because it’s an explorer yacht. There are luxury features aplenty from a swimming pool to the finest Italian décor.
