Singapore Shines in The Pinnacle Guide's First List of Top Cocktail Bars

Three great bars to visit in Singapore.

The Pinnacle Guide has launched its first list of Pinned Bars, introducing a new 1, 2, and 3 PIN Recognition System to celebrate excellence in the cocktail industry. Out of hundreds of applications globally, three Singapore bars have been recognised: ATLAS (2 PIN), Origin Bar (2 PIN), and Ballroom by Barbary Coast (1 PIN). This initiative, developed by industry veterans Hannah Sharman-Cox, Siobhan Payne, and Dan Dove, aims to honour bars that excel not just in drinks and service, but also in philanthropy, sustainability, and diversity.

The founders, known for their successful initiatives like London Cocktail Week and Global Bartending, have curated a list of bars that reflect these values. The Pinnacle Guide's submission process requires bars to detail their drinks programme, staff management, and venue ambience across six assessment modules. A select few then undergo in-person evaluations by a global team of Anonymous Reviewers—industry experts, renowned mixologists, and bar enthusiasts—trained to judge on key aspects of operations and overall experience.

The result is a diverse list of bars from around the world, showcasing the versatility of the cocktail scene. Highlights include a plant-shop serving biodynamic cocktails in Kentucky, a neighbourhood bar in Oaxaca, and a glamorous lounge in rural Scotland. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible response to the first round of applications," said co-founder Dan Dove. “This list celebrates the extraordinary range of cocktail bars the world has to offer—from tiny drinking dens to majestic hotel bars. We’re excited to shed light on many more bars in the future.”

Applications for The Pinnacle Guide opened in November 2023, inviting bars of all sizes, styles, and genres. Hundreds of applications were received from markets including the U.K., U.S., Australia, Dubai, Mexico, Singapore, and Spain. To earn a PIN, a bar must demonstrate excellence in both written applications and anonymous visits. While no bar has yet achieved the top 3 PIN status, many have shown outstanding commitment to sustainability and diversity.

The Pinnacle Guide is committed to progress, and providing constructive feedback to all applicants. “The response to our feedback has been extremely motivating,” say co-founders Hannah Sharman-Cox and Siobhan Payne. “Progress happens through genuine, meaningful insight, and it’s promising to see how applicants are embracing this.”
