The Best Cosy Restaurants In Singapore

Because good food isn’t always about dressing up.

Singapore is a country of restaurants. With eating and drinking seeming to be the national pastime, this leaves us with a marvelous medley of wonderful dining options ranging from the sublime to the Michelin starred. And, as nice as that is, sometimes you just want to kick back, relax and enjoy good food, surrounded by great friends. Which is why we have compiled our guide to the best cosy dining restaurants in Singapore for you. Enjoy.

Halia

Halia is a staple in the Singapore casual yet delicious dining scene. Meaning ginger in Malay, it’s no surprise that Halia finds itself in the Ginger Garden of the Botanic Gardens – home to over 250 variations of the delicious spice. With stunning views of the luscious surroundings, Halia offers modern European fare with a distinct Asian twist. Open for breakfast, lunch and brunch only, favourites include chilli crab pasta, braised wagu nasi lemak and chocolate and raspberry pudding.

P.S Café Fullerton

Pretty much everyone who lives in Singapore knows of the PS. Café chain thanks to its laid back, consistent European meets Asian food and French jazz era meets colonial times décor. With stunning views and a fabulous location, PS. Café Fullerton is the ideal spot for a post work drink, dinner or lunch. With menu staples including daily soups, pastas and salads, it’s the cakes where this little favourite starts to shine. Big, moist and delicious, it’s almost impossible to leave without sampling a slice or two of something freshly baked.

Sushi Jiro

You might be wondering why one of the best Japanese restaurants in Singapore makes our list of casual restaurants and not fine dining. Well, granted their food is some of the freshest and finest you will find in Singapore but thanks to the fact that it’s done in a relaxed, homely style to make sure you have the very best experience, it’s on our list.  Flying in their sashimi directly from Tsukiji Market in Tokyo four times a week, Chef Kenji Nakagawa brings the dishes to life in with his simple but sensational style. What’s more, with regular sashimi and omakase lunch and dinner specials, eating the best doesn’t always need to cost the earth.

Capri Trattoria

Ask any Italian in Singapore where to get good Italian food with a sense of home and they will mention Capri. With a traditional décor featuring paintings of Italy and displays of their wines, the homely surroundings are instantly comforting. When it comes to food, Capri never gets it wrong. Thanks to their Italian chef, specials are on a monthly basis, according to what’s in season and our favourites on the menu include the frittura di pesce, ravioli di vitello and of course, their sensational pizzas.

The Naked Finn

The Naked Finn is somewhat hidden in the always promising Gillman Barracks, but it is well worth looking for. Stylish and luxurious yet at the same time being perfectly relaxed and casual, the fresh food takes centre stage at this family friendly eatery. Think freshly flown in mussels done in a coconut broth, scallops with freshly squeezed lemon and oil and tiger prawns with salted egg yolk broth. Delicious.
