COMO Maalifushi is an island resort on the Maldives southerly Thaa Atoll and it comprises of 65 land and overwater suites and villas.

The very first boutique hotel in the Maldives designed by famed Japanese architect Koichiro Ikebuchi, he created a sensitive approach in terms of design with a nod and respect to cultural authenticity and succinct design. Wanting to keep the décor chic but sleek, each villa was built using New Zealand pine with Kajan thatched roofs, high ceilings to ensure the breeze that comes from the floor-to-ceiling windows, leading onto the stunning decks.

Land villas range from one bedroom garden rooms to two-storey, four-bedroom residences with their own media rooms, pools and even butler service.

When it comes to overwater rooms, each one is expertly designed to overlook the crystal clear waters the Maldives is so famed for.

The expression location, location, location may as well have been written about COMO Maalifushi. The fact that it is the only resort in the Thaa Atoll in the Southern Reaches, lends itself to that perfect feeling of escapism and distance from the outside world. But while it might feel a million miles away, it’s actually just a 60-minute sea plane from Male.

The first and only resort in the un spoilt Thaa Atoll, the location lends itself perfectly to diving and surf breaks which is handy because the resort prides themselves on the abundance of activities while there. What’s more, COMO Maalifushi boasts a wonderful abundance of coral reef which house an array of marine life with its very own on-site marine biologist and team of researchers, dedicated to protecting the reef and the surrounding sea.

There are two types of traveler; those who simply want to sit and tan, and those who need a little dose of adventure during their everyday, and thankfully, this resort has something for everyone.

On holiday to chill out? Then enjoy the white sandy beaches, crystal clear water or head to the spa which boasts eight overwater ocean-facing treatment rooms, steam rooms and an open-air yoga pavilion.
