BLLNR Cares: Happy Hearts Indonesia Gala Dinner

Dining for good.

When it comes to charity initiatives we always have a soft spot for those looking after the welfare of children, which is where Happy Hearts Indonesia comes in. A non-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding schools in underprivileged areas affected by natural disasters, Happy Hearts' journey started in 2006 after the first devastating earthquake in Yogyakarta. Their goal is simple: to eradicated poverty by helping with education, and it's a target, based on this year's gala dinner, held on April 4th, many people are happy to get behind.

Supported by a host of big name brands including luxury jewellery, Chopard and the likes of TIME International, Vinum Fine Wines and Hotel Thoumieux Paris, throughout the night big ticket items including a Fendi handbag, Rinowa suitcase and a Chopard Happy Watch were auctioned off for this years gala dinner's main aim of the new #IAMCHANGE campaign, a five year challenge by Happy Hearts Indonesia to rebuild 200 schools in the Nusa Tenggara Timur area.

Speaking on the night, Sylvia Beiwinkler, the CEO of Happy Hearts Indonesia said this about their charity efforts: "Only 26% of more than 1.6 million children with disabilities in Indonesia go to school. It means more than one million children with disabilities are being left behind and do not have access to education. This is why, in addition to children affected by disasters and the ones living in underprivileged areas, children with disabilities are going to be one of our priorities as well."

And it seems that these figures resonated with the crowd as through the dinner, Happy Hearts Indonesia raised the funds to rebuild three schools in East Nusa Tenggura while many guests also made generous donations throughout the night.
