BLLNR Reviews Morpheus 8 Treatment

And here is our honest review

Sadly, unless you are Dorian Grey, there is no way to stop the ageing process, but there are various ways to keep your skin in the best possible shape. Much like we go to the gym for our bodies, there are a host of new and innovative lasers out there to keep your skin looking a good decade or so behind what it says on our passports.

Now, regular readers may well have hit on my interview with my go-to aesthetician, Dr Kevin Chua, where he explained the of-the-moment treatment, Morpheus 8, here, but dear readers I would never write about something I don't recommend so, with this in mind, I hot-footed it along to his clinic for a session of Kim Kardashian's favourite treatment.

To catch you up if you have forgotten what this wonder laser is, according to Dr Chua it is: "Morpheus8 is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment designed to rejuvenate your skin and enhance its natural beauty. By utilising a combination of advanced radiofrequency technology and micro-needling, Morpheus8 reaches deep into the layers of your skin, increasing collagen production and promising a smoother, tighter complexion." The key benefits according to Dr Chua that:  "Firstly, it can be customized for you. Morpheus8 offers customizable depth settings, allowing us to tailor the treatment precisely to your unique needs and concerns. Secondly, there's the beauty of the versatile application - whether you're looking to address fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, or sagging skin, Morpheus8 can be applied to various areas of your face and body, including the neck, jowls, cheeks, and around the eyes." It can also help minimise pores and help highlight the cheekbone area.

So, onto the treatment. During my consultation with Dr Chua, he didn't sugarcoat that this treatment isn't pain-free so we applied a generous layer of numbing cream for a full hour. After this, the numbing cream is taken off and the treatment starts. I opted for the full face and neck so was told this takes around 20-30 minutes. Did it hurt? Yes and no. I mean, it did hurt but some parts but I have most certainly had more painful treatments. The bits that got me were around my nose and cheekbones but thankfully Dr Chua's assistant had a lovely cold air blower to take my mind off the sore bits. I would say in terms of timings, it seemed like it only took around 20 minutes and just as I was starting to really squirm, we were done.

After the laser had finished, a lovely cooling face mask was applied for 20 minutes, followed by sunscreen and off I went.

In the days that followed I certainly had some marks, like small scratches and my face was red for a couple of days. Luckily I had been warned that this might happen so I booked the appointment on a Friday afternoon and had a quiet, sun-free weekend. I made sure I moisturised a lot and kept applying my post-aesthetic La Roche Posay facemasks. When it comes to seeing visible results, a course of three treatments is recommended so I am heading back later this month for my second treatment but initially, I would say that I can see and feel a difference in my skin. To the touch, I would say my face has more spring in it and my neck most definitely looks a bit tighter, although main results are meant to be visible in up to six months.
