Go-Jek To Launch In Singapore This Year

Indonesian ride-hailing app Go-Jek have announced plans to launch in Singapore this year.

In the wake of the Uber-Grab merger, it comes as a welcome announcement that ride sharing giants, Go-Jek might be planning their entry in Singapore later this year. According to a report, Go-Jek have four South East Asian countries in mind, Singapore being one of them, for their immediate expansion. 

It could be a perfect time for the Indonesian company to enter Singapore, with authorities and citizens worried about the effect the Uber-Grab merger will potentially have on pricing, making it a smooth and easy entry for the innovative firm. With the countries two largest companies now becoming one, the next nearest Singapore competitor title falls to Ryde Technologies, a small but expanding Singapore company who are aiming to launch the private car hire service, similar to Uber X, called Ryde X, early next month. 

While nothing has been confirmed about the expansion, late last year, Go-Jek founder and CEO Nadiem Makarim told reporters from Reuters that four specific countries were on their immediate agenda, with "almost all Southeast Asian countries being on the radar over the next three, six to 12 months."
