Singapore Airlines Wins Best Airline Of 2023

Hurrah for homegrown talent.

For the fifth time in the 23-year history of the Skytrax World Airline Awards, Singapore Airlines won as the top airline in 2023.

Singapore Airlines beat off stiff competition from its main rival, Qatar Airways, who have won the coveted title seven times, most recently last year.

Speaking of the award, Goh Choon Phong, chief executive officer of Singapore Airlines, said, “This award is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our people, who worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices to ensure that SIA was ready for the recovery in air travel. That has allowed us to emerge stronger and fitter from the pandemic as a leading international airline.”

Other notable winners were Qatar for Best Business Class, World's Bet Business Class Seat, World's Best Business Class Lounge.

The highest-ranking North American airline was Delta Air Lines, which came in the 20th position, up four spots from last year. It also was named Best Airline in North America, with the Best Airline Staff Service for the region.

Air Canada won the new World’s Most Family-Friendly Airline category, which covers considerations such as family seating policies, priority boarding and children’s amenities.

The European carriers fared better than the Americans, with Turkish Airlines in the sixth spot and Air France in seventh.

Kuwait Airways was awarded as the World’s Most Improved Airline after launching a complimentary chauffeur service this year for first and business-class passengers.

As it has every year since 2010, AirAsia was named World’s Best Low-Cost Airline.

The Singaporean low-cost Scoot won as the World’s Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline and Spanish Volotea won in a very competitive space as the Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe.

The award for best cabin crew went to Garuda Indonesia

Cathay Pacific won World’s Best Inflight Entertainment and Bangkok Airways won World’s Best Regional Airline.

To gather this year’s results, the U.K.-based aviation consultancy conducted independent, self-funded, online customer surveys covering more than 100 countries and across more than 325 airlines worldwide between September 2022 and May 2023.
