Scentsational: Tom Ford's Rose Prick

Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?
Tom Ford has kicked off 2020 as he clearly means to go on in typically tongue-in-cheek scandalous form, with his new Private Blend Perfume 'Rose Prick.' Following on from 'F*cking Fabulous' in 2017 and 'Lost Cherry' in 2018, this new scent joins the headline garnering name roster Tom Ford has become so known for.
So, blushes aside, what's 'Rose Prick' all about? Well first and foremost, forget any notion of your Grandmother's old soapy rose scents, this is anything but. Using his trilogy method of notes, it starts with Bulgarian rose, which is, by the way, one of the rarest in the world, and is followed by Rose de Mai. Strong and forceful from the first hit, spice is added with Sichuan pepper, turmeric and tonka bean while Tolu balsam and musk bring a heady depth to the scent. All put together and when sprayed on the skin, the initial sweetness gives way to a heady strength that lingers far longer than the sweetness of the rose. With true staying power, this is a bold fragrance.
Speaking of his latest creation, Ford said: 'The prick of a rose. The slight pain that yields such sensual pleasure. Inspired by my own rose garden, Rose Prick is a wild bouquet of intoxicating and rare hybrids.A trilogy of Rose de Mai, Turkish and Bulgarian roses. Sharp and pristine. Warm and sensual. A heady bouquet of blooms in pink perfection. The danger of being so close to beauty heightens the seductive power of Rose Prick.'
And last but not least, we have to talk about the bottle. A flashy, fleshy pink with jet black label that gives old school meets millennial pink vibes, from start to finish, this could be one of Ford's greatest creations yet.
