Jaguar’s Most Iconic Car: The Jaguar XKSS
Jaguar Classic to hand-build its most iconic car.
Jaguar will be building nine new Jaguar XKSS model cars to the exact specification they were built to in 1957.
This new batch of XKSS models will replace the cars that were lost in the infamous Browns Lane factory fire. Of the 25 cars that were originally slated to be made for export to the US, only 16 cars were built before the factory was destroyed. These nine additional cars will be assembled for a select group of collectors and customers at Jaguar’s new Experimental Shop in Warwick.
The Jaguar XKSS is one of the first supercars in the world. The idea to create the XKSS came after Jaguar took three successive Le Mans victories in 1955 to 1957 with the Jaguar D-type. Founder Sir William Lyons then decided to convert 25 D-types into road-ready models with additional modifications. These included higher windscreens, an extra door on the passenger side and removal of the fin behind the driver’s seat.

The new Jaguar XKSS will be available in excess of £1 million. First deliveries of the new continuation Jaguar XKSS will commence in early 2017.
