Maserati Celebrates 20th Anniversary of the MC12 with Special Series

Commemorating racing excellence with Maserati.

Maserati is proud to unveil the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda, two special series created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the iconic MC12. This launch marks a tribute to Maserati's return to racing in 2004 after a 37-year hiatus. The MC12, first introduced as a road car and then as a formidable competitor in GT championships, inspired the development of the MC20 super sports car. Launched in 2020, the MC20 marked a new era for Maserati, featuring the innovative V6 Nettuno engine. Now, the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda continue this legacy, each with a limited run of just 20 units.

The MC20 Icona features a livery inspired by the MC12 Stradale, itself a tribute to the Maserati Trofeo Light. This edition includes the Bianco Audace Matte and Blu Stradale colors, enhanced by the Fuoriserie personalization program. Key details include the Maserati Fuoriserie logo, Italian flag emblem, chrome-plated wheels with blue Trident hubcaps, blue brake calipers, and a carbon fiber engine cover. The MC20 Leggenda pays homage to the award-winning MC12 GT1 of the Vitaphone Racing team with its Nero Essenza and Digital Mint Matte livery. Fuoriserie features for this edition include Nero Lucido trident wheels with Digital Mint hubcaps, yellow Trident logos on the grille and doors, and black brake calipers.

Both models feature racing-inspired interiors with lightweight monocoque racing seats. The Icona seats have a Nero/Blu central section on a silver background, while the Leggenda seats are Nero on a silver background. Each car's headrest is embroidered with the Trident logo and the respective model name. The powerful Nettuno engine is highlighted by a badge reading “ICONA. UNA DI 20” or “LEGGENDA. UNA DI 20.” Additional features shared by both models include the Sonus faber sound system, carbon fiber interior package, electronic limited-slip differential (E-LSD), suspension lifter, blind spot and rear cross path systems, and custom mats.

The MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda celebrate a golden age for Maserati, echoing the triumphs of the MC12 GT1, which achieved 27 victories in the FIA GT Championships and numerous team, driver, and constructor titles between 2004 and 2010. The MC12 Stradale, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro with a Ferrari-derived V12 engine, remains Maserati’s fastest production car, reaching speeds of 330 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Only 50 units were produced, making it a rare and coveted model.

Today, the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda honor the spirit and achievements of the MC12, symbolizing the ongoing pursuit of excellence and innovation at Maserati. These special editions represent the passing of the baton, celebrating the heritage and future of Maserati's racing and design prowess.
