Sanlorenzo SX88: The Crossover We Didn't Know We Needed

Sanlorenzo returns to the yachting stage with a motor yacht of many firsts.

This crossover, like no other in the yachting world, brings together the best of both worlds to deliver the SX88 masterpiece.

With the arrival of Summer, the waters have rapidly begun to brim with a hubbub of yachts. This year, however, boat-fanatics will have to keep their eyes open for a particular yacht — the SX88.

The SX88 is not your ordinary yacht. As the latest release from Sanlorenzo, it combines both the features of an explorer and a flybridge yacht, truly living up to its “Copernican revolution” title.

Measuring 27m in length and built from a GRP hull and carbon fibre superstructure, this model has a battery bank which operates for four to eight hours with zero emissions and is capable of achieving a 23-knot speed. The yacht is also built with environmentally sustainable materials and procedures which have led to the SX88 receiving RINA’s Green Class award.

However, the aesthetics of its design are what sets this model apart. In collaboration with architect Piero Lissoni for the interior and Italiana Design for the exterior lines, Sanlorenzo focused on the concept of space of the yacht.

The SX88 offers a flexible optimisation of its space. The single helm position on the fly bridge, which can be closed and air-conditioned, allows the bow of the main deck to be adapted to the client’s preference, while the open stern can be customised to hold a garage, beach club and sports activity area.

Though the SX88 will only be on display during the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, six units have already been sold internationally to be delivered in Spring 2018.

Sanlorenzo is brokered in Asia by Simpson Marine. Established in Hong Kong in 1984 by Mike Simpson as a yacht sales and charter company, it is widely regarded as playing a pioneering role in the development of the yachting industry in Asia.
